Afghan Hounds are always in need of exercise, this is a must. Exercising your Afghan Hound or Afghan Puppies will be needed
on a daily basis, most of the time on a two times per day basis. If you are a high energy person, and you need a dog that
will make you run, this is a great dog for you!
Afghan Hounds and Afghan Puppies need to run, that is all there is to it. These dogs were originally bred for hunting
purposes, and when you see theses dogs run you will understand why. You will have to make sure your Afghan Hound or Afghan
puppies are in a secure fenced area if you decide to put them outside without a leash and handler.
A fence should be at least 6 feet in height as Afghan Hounds are also very good jumpers. If your Afghan does break loose
this could spell disaster because they will run, and run, and this includes into traffic. So always be careful when letting
your Afghan Hound run loose keeping your Afghan safe should be your #1 priority.
When you are able to walk your Afghan Hounds or Afghan Puppies, you will need a choke chain and a strong leash. The more
you walk these animals the better it is, they will be more content and less likely to be destructive to your belongings. Once
again, make sure you have a good hold of these dogs, because if given the chance they will run.
To give you an idea of what Afghan can do, it is known for them to trot at speeds of up to 12 mph for hours on end and
not even breathe hard. They are in need of endless exercise, even when they look content on the couch watching the television;
once you are not looking they will chew anything and everything.
If you are full of energy and walk everyday then this breed is definitely worth considering.
