About Afghan Hounds

Afghan Hounds are a breed apart, seasoned Afghan owners and new Afghan Hound owners are at all times aware that this ancient and elegant hound owns them. At know time, unless convenient to the Afghan, is the human leader of the pack, or in any way in control of this hound's environment.
 
This is a lesson soon learnt when first becoming involved with the world of the Afghan Hound.

Afghan Hounds are a specialist breed of dog. They take a lot of understanding, care and attention and above all quick thinking.

Coat Care?

The Afghan Hound has a coat that is not for the faint hearted. Whether a pet or a show dog, the work involved in keeping this magnificent hound looking in peak condition comes not only from regular bathing and grooming but from correct diet.
The Afghan is a master at training it's human to tend to the needs of his coat especially when he is testing human dexterity with anything that could possibly get stuck in his coat, even if this means rolling several times in any odious substance.
